About me
Hello! My name is Carrie Marr. I am a visual artist, writer and editor, and author of dozens of interactive children’s books and picture books.
My visual art is inspired by my love of gardening and nature, and my need for color. (It gets very gray in Vermont in the winter.)
I’ve illustrated both cookbooks and picture books. My children’s books have been enjoyed by thousands of children across the United States and have even been sold in notable places, such as the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee. I am particularly interested in writing about gardening, nature, health and wellness, and social-emotional learning.
I live in Burlington, Vermont, a magical little city that I absolutely adore. When I’m not creating, you can find me gardening, doing yoga, going for a long walk, or hanging out at a café. My favorite book as a child was “Blueberries for Sal” by Robert McCloskey. I’m also a big fan of Byrd Baylor, Peter Parnall, and Richard Scarry. My artistic influences include Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe, Julia Rothman, and Frida Clements.
